Owners Rank Porsche as the Top Automotive Luxury Brand

When renowned California-based automotive marketing and product-consulting firm AutoPacific surveyed over 33,500 new car owners, the full line of Porsche sports cars topped the field in the Premium Sports Car segment, and Porsche ranked as the Ideal Premium Brand ahead of brands like Jaguar, Buick, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Land Rover among others.

“Sweeping the field in the Premium Sports Car segment, owners provided validation that Porsche really knows their target buyer and understands how to build an ideal vehicle. This year they cleaned house in the Premium Sports Car segment. Not only did all of the Premium Sports Cars they produce score in the top three. It was a three-way-tie for first place, with the 911, Cayman and Boxster all sharing in the glory,” according to AutoPacific. Porsche’s fourth product line, the Cayenne, finished an impressive second in the Premium Luxury X-SUV segment.

AutoPacific releases its highly regarded Ideal Vehicle Awards (IVA) results annually to measure owner desire for change across 15 specific areas related to a vehicle’s ride, handling, roominess, technology, comfort, and more. Vehicles with the least amount of desired changes are considered “ideal” vehicles, having met their buyer demands.

AutoPacific is a future-oriented automotive marketing and product-consulting firm. Every year it publishes a wide variety of syndicated studies on the automotive industry. The firm also conducts extensive proprietary research and consulting for auto manufacturers, distributors, marketers and suppliers worldwide. Its company headquarters and state-of-the-art automotive research facility are in Tustin, California, with an affiliate office in the Detroit area.

Rumors of a Porsche Panamera Hybrid for next year??

In addition to the new V-6 model being added to the Porsche Panamera lineup, Porsche is also preparing to launch the Panamera Hybrid next year as a 2012 model. The Panamera Hybrid will use a similar system as the 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid that will make its debut this fall. In the Cayenne S Hybrid, the system pairs a 333-horsepower, 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 with a 47-horsepower electric motor to produce a combined system output of 380 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. Porsche expects this system to give the 2011 Cayenne S Hybrid fuel economy similar to a four-cylinder engine without compromising the performance expected from a Porsche.

The Panamera Hybrid should be able to improve upon the performance figures for the Cayenne which Porsche claims to be acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 6.1 seconds with a top speed of 150 mph. Like the Cayenne S Hybrid, the Panamera Hybrid will include a "sailing" mode which allows the fuel supply to be shut off during deceleration at speeds of up to 97 mph as well as the ability to drive under full electric power at speeds up to 40 mph. Porsche’s green technology will continue to push the performance limits with cars like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Hybrid and the recently announced production version of the Porsche 918 Spyder – a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
