Porsche set to break the speed record with GT9-R Supercar

Speed thrills! Porsche knows this better than any other automaker. That's why after breaking Bugatti Veyron's speed record by hitting 254 mph last year, Porsche comes back with its new GT9-R Supercar to eclipse the all-time record, that's currently holding by SSC Ultimate Aero, to claim the title once and for all. Brian Harris Porsche, the leading Porsche dealer in Baton Rouge and New Orleans Louisiana is proud to bring you this latest Porsche news and is excited to witness the moment when the new GT9-R Supercar touches the speed barrier of 257 mph to claim the production car world record.

The astounding fact is that, GT9-R Supercar is making its speed record breaking attempt with only six cylinders. The heavily modified, turbocharged 4.0L boxer six-cylinder motor will deliver 1120 hp in the top-of-the-line trim level. The power is transferred to the wheels either through a six-speed manual or a six-speed sequential automatic. However, the 750-hp base model's engine is paired with a five-speed Tiptronic automatic. Loosely based on the Porsche 911, the GT9-R features lightweight construction throughout, from its tube frame to its carbon-Kevlar body and will be outfitted with the interior the way you want to pay for it.
